Indoor Air Quality

Buffalo, New York

The Burchfield Penney Arts Center at SUNY College at Buffalo celebrates the city of Buffalo's creative and diverse community. Completed in March 2009, this art museum is located in the heart of Buffalo's Museum District, close to: the Albright Knox Art Gallery, the Richardson Olmsted Complex, and the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society.

Sienna Environmental Technologies, LLC provided complete Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) services for this successful LEED Silver certified project as a subconsultant to CJ Brown Energy, Gwathmey Siegel & Associates, Semmens Associates, LP Ciminelli, and Kallen & Lemelson. Results of the indoor air quality testing demonstrated that air quality met the criteria established by LEED-NC Credit 3.2.

Sienna's scope of work included:

  • Preparation of IAQ specification documents
  • Review of the IAQ Construction Management Plan
  • Development of IAQ Testing Protocol and conducting IAQ sampling per Suny University Construction Fund directives and 19 6NYCRR for the following parameters: PM10 particulates, total volatile organic compounds, formaldehyde and carbon monoxide

With a construction cost of $33 million, this 84,000 square foot groundbreaking space won several local design awards, including the Buffalo Business First Brick by Brick 2009 Golden Brick Award and the AIA Buffalo/Western New York 2009 Honor Award.
