Buffalo Public Schools Renovation Program (Phases I - V)

Buffalo Public Schools is currently in the midst of a $3 billion district-wide reconstruction project to transform a variety of pre-K through 12 schools into state-of-the-art 21st century learning centers. Encompassing a combined one million square feet, the scope of this decade-long project includes the comprehensive renovation of 60 facilities for the Buffalo Public Schools program. 

Sienna Environmental Technologies, LLC has been providing environmental services since Phase I as a prime contractor to LP Ciminelli and subcontractor to multiple architecture and engineering firms. Slated to continue until the close of the project in 2014, Sienna's multiple services include:

  • Environmental project design, including preparation of contract documents for hazardous materials abatement
  • Project monitoring and air sampling
  • Phase Contrast Microscopy laboratory analysis 
  • Asbestos and lead-based paint inspection and PCB in caulk sampling 
  • Waste characterization and clearance sampling

Numerous awards have been conferred for work completed in the Buffalo Public Schools Renovation Program, including: the 2012 Buffalo Business First Brick by Brick Finalist for Best Educational Project for BPS 72: Lorraine Elementary School, 2009 AIA Buffalo/Western New York Design Award for BPS 32: Bennett Park Montessori, and the 2011 AIA Buffalo/Western New York Merit Award for BPS 205: Riverside Institute of Technology.  

The entire scope of work for the Buffalo Public Schools Renovation program includes extensive renovation and reconstruction, mechanical and electrical upgrades, and roofing and window replacements.
