King Center Charter School

Sienna Environmental Technologies, LLC provided environmental services as a subcontractor to Architectural Resources for the King Center Charter School, which is housed in the King Urban Life Center in Buffalo, New York. In 2011 the King Center Charter School expanded its capacity from Grades Pre-K through 6th, to include 7th and 8th grades to accommodate its growing student population. The school now serves 300 students on Buffalo's East Side.

The school was renovated from the former St. Mary of Sorrows Catholic Church, an historic church that was saved from demolition in the 1980's and became a designated landmark. Sienna Environmental Technologies assisted in the renovation of the historic building by providing pre-asbestos, lead and PCB inspection, sampling, project monitoring, air sampling and laboratory services throughout interior renovations to the building, including replacement of outdated flooring and finishes.

Sienna provided the following scope of work for this project:

  • Asbestos & Lead-Based Paint Inspection & PCB in Caulk Sampling
  • Project Monitoring & Air Sampling Services
  • Laboratory Analysis of Air Samples by Phase Contrast Microscopy
  • Laboratory Analysis of Bulk Samples by Polarized Light Microscopy
