Connecting Terminal Grain Elevators - NYS Urban Development Corporation

The former grain elevators of the Erie Canal Harbor, located in Buffalo, New York, recently underwent extensive renovations to illuminate and activate grain elevators and bridges along Buffalo’s waterfront.

These structures serve as a reminder of Buffalo’s industrial and commercial importance and a proud time of economic development. Buffalo is in the process of reinventing and repositioning itself in the community’s eyes as an incredible cultural powerhouse and a true economic developer. This project is a symbol of the transformation.

Phase 1 included illumination of the Connecting Terminal grain elevator, Skyway and Ohio Street Bridge, as well as the completion of concept and marketing studies for an approximately 45 minute multimedia show at the Connecting Terminal. Sienna conducted project monitoring and air sampling during the asbestos abatement scope of the renovation and provided assistance to the architect on obtaining variances with NYS to allow this unique project to be abated in a timely manner.

Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation’s vision is to revitalize Western New York’s waterfront and restore economic growth to Buffalo based on the region’s legacy of pride, urban significance and natural beauty.
