Niagara Falls Bridge Commission

The Whirlpool Bridge is 1 of 4 bridges that span the border between the United States and Canada at the Niagara Falls border. Originally constructed in 1897, the bridge has undergone a series of refurbishments and upgrades in recent years. One of the recent projects replaced the custom's inspection booths as part of the NEXUS upgrades. The Nexus custom's protocol is a joint venture between the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency and the Canada Border Services Agency which allows approved low-risk travelers expedited border crossing. The project converted the entire border crossing to the NEXUS protocol, providing a consolidated travel option for NEXUS travelers.

The renovation of the Rainbow Bridge Canada plaza bus processing facility encompassed a series of infrastructure improvements and enhancements, including the addition of new floors and processing space, exterior canopy roofing modifications, relocation of existing boilers, shifting of the Canada-bound currency exchange, and additional parking capacity.

Sienna provided the following scope of work for these projects:

  • Asbestos, Lead-Based Paint Inspection
  • Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) Exterior Caulk/Sealant Inspection
  • Categorization & Analysis of Potentially Hazardous Materials
  • Abatement Design
